This is my entry for the jam "Reality is often inaccurate" https://itch.io/jam/2018-epic-megajam

You must explore each level, work with changing gravity, portals and impossible structures to find the exit.

Recommend playing levels from left->right (Outdoors first, and Cube last) to get a difficulty curve, but they can be played in any order

Controls:

MoveWSAD
JumpSpacebar
LookMouse
ESCQuit to main menu/desktop

Credits:

Epic content (some starter content, mannequin, tree from soul cave)
Advanced Spline generator from marketplace (for plants and glowey vines)
Advanced space shader from marketplace (for skybox)
FantasyOrchestral music ( https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/fantasy-orchestral-music )
Sounds from soundly (for jump, land and level complete at time of writing)

Special thanks to the portal tutorial by FusedVR

Inspiration taken from M.C. Escher (Name of the game is UNreal eSCHER)

You can see some of Eschers actual work here: https://www.mcescher.com/ I strongly recommend checking out the "impossible constructions" and "transformations" secions in the gallery

The Portal blueprint (and wall walking pawn) can be found here: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/slug/portals-blueprint

Hey i had some questions about your code for the portals, is there a way to contact you?

The best way is probably a question on the portals marketplace item

Aww when I try to run it I get a fatal error.

Shucks I saw your game being developed in Discord and I wanted to try it

Damn, can you give me any more details on the error?

(1 edit)

It it just says Unreal Engine encountered a fatal error whenever I run your game, that's it

Try this version: http://chozabu.net/autopush/Unscher.zip

I also get a fatal error, but when I force close the game. I had some flickering on the screen. i7, gtx950m.

But the trailer looks very cool!

Hey, any luck with this version? http://chozabu.net/autopush/Unscher.zip

Very good, thank you! No more issues with graphics.

A few suggestions, in case you plan working further on it. When I look up/around, I can see through the head of the character.
And sometimes when changing from dark <-> white areas, the transitions can feel too dark or bright.

Glad it works. Unsure what the issue was, migrated to a new project.
In first person, the character has no head... but looking up does let you see the inside of his neck. Willfix.
dark <-> white transasitions - agree, will try and make this smoother or more of a feature depending on the situation.

Thanks!
